Support for Young Women

Otahuhu-Mangere Youth Group

The Mangere East Community Centre have partnered up with the Auckland Women's Centre to provide extra support for young women in our community.  Stephanie Vakauta has joined the Mangere East team bringing with her a vibrant passion for young people and social justice. Stephanie's work is project-based & aims to link up and support young women in Mangere.
Mangere-Otahuhu Local Board area is one of the largest & youngest local board's in the country. It is imperative that young people are involved in the decision-making and place-shaping of their own communities. OMYG is a network of youth groups in the Mangere-Otahuhu local board area organising and running projects and events for young people aimed at empowering and equipping youth in their community to engage with council and other regulatory authorities. The group advocate for the rights of young people holding authorities accountable & working with other groups to ensure the voices of young people are heard & reflected through action. The group meet monthly and welcome new members and outside groups to get in touch.
